The Odyssey Clinical Model

Treatment

The Odyssey Clinical Model continues with the Treatment process once accurate assessment has been established. The Treatment component has three distinct program phases:

  1. Personal & Family Responsibility
  2. Reflection
  3. Community

Personal & Family Responsibility

Students complete a 40-mile backpacking expedition during Responsibility phase. Treatment progression focuses on responsibility, self-care, communication skills, family role performance, and relationships.

Therapists facilitate individual and group therapy.

Reflection

Reflection is a 2-day section of the Treatment process. The purpose of Reflection is for students to gain insight into their intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships and to develop goals that are relevant to their individual areas of growth. This process is facilitated by a Therapist who provides intensive individual therapy to each student.

Therapists facilitate the 2-day Reflection phase.

Community

Community is the culmination phase of the Treatment component. This phase of treatment includes either a longboat sailing expedition (Odyssey NW) or a desert rock climbing expedition (Odyssey SW). Treatment progression in this phase focuses on developing healthy communication patterns, social skills, self-esteem, creativity and actualizing personal growth.

Therapists facilitate individual and group therapy.
