The Odyssey Clinical Model

Transition

The Odyssey Clinical Model concludes with effective Transition planning and discharge. Transition planning includes three distinct components:

  1. Family Success Plan
  2. Parent Workshop
  3. Family Reunification

Family Success Plan

Transition planning is built around what environment the student is transitioning to after Odyssey and what resources will be available in that placement. Both students and parents complete a Family Success Plan, with the guidance of their Therapist, that includes steps for effective application of strengths and skills realized at Odyssey.

Students enter the transition phase of the clinical model in their final program week.

Parent Workshop

Parents are invited to participate in a multi-family workshop designed to prepare parents for reuniting with their child and transition to aftercare. This 1-day event is hosted by a Therapist and the Program Director, who facilitate a family-centered workshop.

The Parent Workshop is followed by a picnic lunch or dinner.

Reunification

Parent and child reunification is the final piece of Transition. This includes a Passages Ceremony graduation and a family therapy session with all participating family members. This Reunification meeting brings together parent and child in a planning-based therapy session, in which feelings, perspectives and commitments are expressed.

Therapists facilitate both the Passages Ceremony graduation and the Reunification sessions.
